Housing Choice Voucher Program

Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed.

The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program is on the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development's (HUD) programs for assisting low and extremely low income families including elderly and disabled individuals in affording decent, safe and sanitary housing in the private rental market. HCV participants are issued a housing choice voucher to locate their own housing, including single-family homes, townhouses, multi-family homes and apartments. The HCV participant is able to choose any housing that meets the criteria/program guidelines for that particular family or individual. Housing Choice Vouchers are administered by the local public housing agency (PHA) and receives federal funding from HUD to administer the HCV program. Rental units must meet Housing Quality Standards (HQS) and rents are not to exceed asking rental amounts in the unassisted housing market.
